Rod's research areas in telecommunications include fixed and wireless networking, with a particular focus on energy efficiency. Rod was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2012 Australia Day Honours.

Lynda's research relates to the use of technology for the teaching and learning of mathematics including pedagogical issues and student engagement, assessment and teacher professional learning.

 

Emma Dawson

Executive Director | Institute for a Broadband-Enabled Society

Emma joined IBES in March 2013. Previously, Emma was an adviser to Senator Stephen Conroy from 2008 to January 2013. Emma oversaw the switchover from analogue to digital television and was responsible for media policy, including ABC and SBS funding, broadcast policy, spectrum policy and the Convergence Review.

Steve's research focuses on the interface between the computational sciences and the social sciences, specialising in human computer interaction and computer supported cooperative work. His current focus looks at how computing can alleviate problems of real social concern, such as illness, social marginalisation and isolation, and environmental degradation.

Gregor leads the University's strategy in technology enhanced learning and teaching. He has longstanding research interests in contemporary learning design and emerging technologies, educational technology research and evaluation, computer-based interactivity and engagement, 3D immersive virtual environments, and the use of electronic measures and analytics in computer-based learning environments.

Professor and Chair of Health Informatics | Melbourne Medical School

Fernando's research focuses on information processing in human disease and biology. His current research interests include informatics methods and models to facilitate personalised, regenerative and nano medicine. He has also extensive experience in the use of Internet technologies for the management of biomedical information and knowledge.

Scott's research explores the social effects of new media technologies, with particular attention to their impact on the social relations of space and time, and the formation of identity.
